Fake Medicines Factory Busted in Ghaziabad, ₹2.3 Crore Worth of Counterfeit Drugs Seized

Delhi Crime Branch has busted a fake medicines manufacturing unit in Ghaziabad, arresting two accused and seizing counterfeit drugs worth ₹2.30 crore. The factory was producing spurious skin-treatment creams and supplying them across several North Indian states.

A major crackdown on the illegal pharmaceutical trade has unfolded in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, where the Delhi Crime Branch has uncovered a clandestine factory manufacturing counterfeit medicines, exposing a network that allegedly supplied fake drugs across several northern states.

According to officials, the operation led to the arrest of two men identified as Gaurav Bhagat and Shriram, also known as Vishal Gupta. Investigators revealed that the facility was producing spurious pharmaceutical products, including skin-treatment creams marketed under popular brand names such as Betnovate, which are commonly prescribed for dermatological conditions.

During the raid, law enforcement teams seized counterfeit medicines and related materials estimated to be worth approximately ₹2.30 crore. The scale of the seizure has raised serious concerns about public health risks, as such fake products often enter regular supply chains and are sold to unsuspecting consumers.

Preliminary findings indicate that the operation was not confined to Ghaziabad alone. Officials believe the counterfeit drugs were being distributed across multiple states in North India, pointing to a wider supply network that may involve additional individuals and distribution points.

Legal proceedings against the arrested accused are expected to follow as evidence is consolidated.
